Note: the eagle should be fimbriated in white
The SRP was the most outspoken neo-Nazi party in the first years of the
Federal Republic of Germany. Founded in 1949 by old Nazis, it quickly gained support in the Northern parts of Germany: in the election to the Landtag in Lower Saxony 11% and 16 seats, in Bremen 7.7% and 8 seats. It was banned as unconstitutional by the Bundesverfassungsgericht in 1952 and dissolved.
Marcus Schmöger, 10 September 2001
The flag of the SRP was red with a black eagle fimbriated white. However, I am not actually sure about the actual form of the eagle, as my three sources differ in that. Political commentator Paul Sethe commented the SRP flag thus, "The black eagle on red ground serving as a decoration for campaign meetings of the Socialist Empire Party did not bear the swastika. But every spectator saw it invisibly painted on the middle of the imperial eagle."
